About Us
Chosen International was founded as a nonprofit adoption support organization by Greg and Cynthia Bigelow. It was incorporated with the state of Oregon in 1998 as Hearts of Compassion Adoption Fund, and received official recognition as a 501c3 nonprofit in 2003. By-laws were amended and filed with the Oregon State Atorney to change the name to Chosen International in 2006.

Greg and Cynthia are the parents of four, two by adoption. Taelyn and Julee were born in South Korea, and adopted through Holt International Children's Services. Desiring to help their daughters gain a better understanding of God's plan for adoption and purpose for their lives, as well as the opportunity for a Christian camp experience with other adoptees, they held a teen camp including both international adoptees as well as those adopted from the foster care system. The Biblical foundation upon which all international adoption was founded by Harry and Bertha Holt in 1955 was shared with the teens, along with the usual (and unusal) fun and games of a summer camp. Hugely successful, the request for more camps was made. From these, Greg and Cindy, along with the board of directors, saw the desire of adoptive parents to gain a better understanding of the emotional and educational needs of their children from a Christian perspective, and support groups and conferences were organized to address some of the special issues and challenges that adoptive families face. Recognizing the greatest impact of words comes from those who can truly say they truly understand what it feels like to grow up adopted, Chosen International uses adult adoptees to share with teens and parents at camps and conferences.
